Colne River Boys C

This story is no secret and as true as I can say
It’s a story of way of life that’s different from today,
How Colne river sailors sailed the ocean wide
To bring the worthy treasure home upon a rising tide.

Oh we don’t carry coal we don’t carry woolly bale
And we don’t carry tin but we’re very fond of ale,
And we don’t carry silk and we don’t carry gold
We carry, it’s a secret, and its down there in the hold.

Now the local lads were keen to sail the ocean far,
That put money in their pocket just like their old papa
They were ready to stand too, to keep the nation free,
But Mum insisted that they were home well in time for tea.

We get some grief from sailor boy aboard them clipper ships
They think themselves a cut above, their hands upon their hips
We tell them that our cargo is ecologically fine
And they tell us we can stick it where the sun don’t shine

Now years ago, them sailor, boys sailed by the northern star
In squalls and storms and weather poor no one would go too far
Todays generations have a feather in their caps
We now sail by day or night with the aid of google maps.

Our cargo now is in demand, we really can’t see why,
Past generations loathe the stuff, no one can deny,
It now appears this wonderous root’s environmentally right
We all agree, with one accord it tastes like *****

Oh, we don’t carry coal and we don’t carry woolly bale
And we don’t carry tin but we’re very fond of ale,
And we don’t carry silk and we don’t carry gold
We carry, Tapioca, and its down there in the hold.

Repeat  –  Staying in the hold
(Shout)   TAPIOCA !!
